Texas Citizens Bank Announces Passing of Former Board Member W.H. “Dub” Kelly at Age 91
Last Monday, we lost a dear friend and former Advisory Director, Dub Kelley.
Dub was a friend to so many and will be remembered for his coaching days, tremendous residential building business, humor, golf skills, and for being a man of great integrity.
He loved being a part of Texas Citizens Bank from the beginning and was great about referring folks to the bank. We will miss him dearly.
Please keep Dub’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
– Mike Cornett, President of Texas Citizens Bank
Dub Kelly’s Work and Community Service in Clear Lake City, Texas,
Among his many career accomplishments, Dub will be remembered for his love of family, community, and sports.
Serving as a teacher and coach for 20 years, Dub taught teamwork and resilience with catchphrases like “keep on going” and “time enough to win.” Dub coached Clear Creek High School’s playoff baseball when the team lost 0-1 to Alvin. Texas Rangers’ Nolan Ryan pitched for Alvin.
Dub also played in the 2003 Houston Open Pro-AM tournament with Ben Curtis. That same year, Ben Curtis won the British Open. Dub said he taught Ben how to win.
Dub’s determination and dedication translated to business as well. He founded Kustom Kastles, which built over 1,000 Houston homes during Kelly’s 35 years with the business. In addition to serving on the Texas Citizens Bank Board, Dub was a member of the Bay Area Builders Association.
Kustom Kastles, won many prestigious awards, such as the Greater Houston Builders Association Prism Award and the Pinnacle Award, focusing on custom home building in the Clear Lake area of Houston.
